PC market declines 5% in Q109 amid market pressure, Lenovo, HP strong.

IDC has announced that the PC market has shrunk by five percent year on year compared to Q08 by value, though total shipments came in close to expectations thanks to strong demand for notebooks in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The notebook sector posted 12 percent YOY growth.

The report noted that Lenovo remained the market leader, while HP surprised the market watchers by actually posting a year on year gain under these difficult conditions.
